ADELAIDES LARGEST RANGE OF CAMELLIAS Camellias for smaller garden spaces.
Camellia varieties with compact, low and slow growth habits. Varieties with these growth habits are ideal for growing in pots, planter boxes and restricted size garden beds. One of the advantages of these Camellias is their dwarf or slow growth allows them to grow in containers longer than their faster and taller growing family members. A feature of the Camellia not to be over looked, is the ornamental value of its beautiful glossy dark green foliage which is there year round, even while not in flower the Camellia remains an attractive feature plant for anywhere in the garden but even more so in patios, verandas, balconies and courtyards.
Smaller growing Camellia sasanquas.
Frosted Star, a small dense compact shrub with an upright, almost column shaped growth habit. With single white flowers boldly flushed pink towards the petal margins. Ideal as a standalone plant in a pot, also great as a small hedge to 1.2 metre. Requiring only the minimum pruning.
Slim and Trim, as the name suggests, has a slim stature making it well suited to a garden with restricted space. Be it in a border garden, in a planter box or as a upright slender pot plant. Bearing small semi double white and pink flowers in profusion.
Yuletide, One of the most architectural growth habits of all Camellias, a dwarf compact bush with the most stunning orange red single flowers. A striking tub specimen, wonderful trimmed as a topiary or excellent as a low dense hedge. Another one requiring minimal pruning.
Marge Millar and its white flowering daughter “Snow”. A remarkable prostrate growing Camellia. This Camellia is very useful as a ground cover plant, hanging basket specimen or as a useful cascading plant over the edge of a raised garden or planter box. Large (for a sasanqua) double blooms, Marge being salmon pink and Snow, an ivory white.
Smaller growing Camellia japonicas/hybrids
Dahlohnega, a dwarf, compact growing variety, usually growing as wide as it does high. The smaller plants does not mean less flower, on the contrary it is very floriferous, with midsized, perfect formal double blooms opening primrose yellow and fading to cream as the flower matures.
Mini Mint, all that’s missing is the wrapper. The flowers are small formal double white blooms with bold deep pink stripes. Just as sweet as a lolly! This is very small, dwarf and compact Camellia.Wonderful for small pots and spaces, even as a small low hedge.
Nuccio’s Bella Rosa, from the world renowned Californian Camellia breeder, Nuccio’s Nursery. Probably their best release yet. The flowers are remarkably large, brilliant red formal double blooms. What makes the size of the blooms more remarkable is they are borne on a small stout compact bush. Making it very useful as a tub specimen or where a smaller bush is called for.
Hishi Karato, another well behaved no non-sense camellia. An upright compact bush with a very leafy appearance. The small hose-in-hose double style, florescent pink, flowers are borne in abundance. The rigid nature of the branches, ensure the multitude blooms are beautifully presented on the bush. Another valuable Camellia for the compact garden spaces.
