Olive

Description

Manzanillo- The trees are relatively low and spreading and easy to harvest. Fruits of this variety process easily, and have a high flesh-pit ratio. The oil content is sufficiently high to justify use of the crop for oil extraction. Bearing is fairly regular, not fluctuating in yield as much as some of the other varieties.

Flemings Jumbo- The leaves of this variety are larger than usual with very attractive fruit. Good bearing tree which grows well in hot climates. Good oil content. Fruit holds on the tree till very late in the year.

Verdale – Inclined towards alternate cropping but the “on” crops are reasonably heavy, easily harvested and the fruit has a good oil content.

Kalamarta-Large purple olive with a smooth texture. Often used as table olives.
